On this episode of the Connecting Africa Podcast we speak to Jessica Hope, founder and CEO of communications consultancy Wimbart, about the relationship between startups and investors and the dynamics at play when it comes to communication and performance reporting.

Hope talked through Wimbart's recent research about startup performance reporting and the expectations from both startups and venture capital (VC) investors.

The research revealed that while reporting frequency has improved, 40% of startup founders still feel investors don't fully understand their business or the market.

This disconnect creates ongoing challenges for investor confidence and highlights a gap between what founders report and what investors find valuable.

The data also highlighted some disconnects when it comes to trust, and how misaligned reporting could threaten future funding for African tech startups.
