Airtel Zambia Executive Natasha Mulowa spoke to Connecting Africa's Associate Editor Matshepo Sehloho about the Airtel TV offering and competition it is facing in the market.

"Competition is inevitable. When it comes to telcos when one telco launches a product another one will follow. If MTN comes through with MTN TV, we are already prepared. We know we have done the background work; we have done our research ... we will leverage on being first to market," she said.

She said that on the content front there has been a lot of interest from local content creators who want to work with Airtel TV.

"We are definitely not going to go into production as a telco because that is not our space, so we are partnering with producers, content providers that are coming through and we just provide a platform for them of where to place that content," she said.

She gave some predictions about the future of Airtel TV, including more local content being created in Zambia, following in the footsteps of a country like Nigeria's successful film market.
