NAIROBI – During these extraordinary times, businesses of all sizes are looking to digital for ways to reach their customers. There's never been a better time for companies to adapt their social media strategy.

East Africa Com, the region's leading tech event which will take place online this year, announces its collaboration with Twitter to take place during the East Africa Com conference.

During April, Twitter's CEO Jack Dorsey announced the company's expansion in Africa, with plans to establish a presence in Ghana.

The collaboration between East Africa Com and Twitter will ensure African business leaders looking to capitalize will have the knowledge and skills to benefit from the world's most popular microblogging service.

The introduction of the East Africa Com Twitter workshops to the event's agenda will allow attendees the opportunity to take advantage of free training from Twitter's team.

"We are delighted to be working on this continued collaboration with Twitter. We have the shared goal of creating forums to bring people together to discuss the biggest topics across industry and sector on the African continent," said East Africa Com producer, James Williams.

"This shared role of connecting and informing has never been more important. Our own 20+ year heritage of delivering the best tech and telecoms events in Africa indicates that is a commitment, and collaboration, that's here to stay," Williams added.

The Twitter Workshops will take place from May 10 - 12 during the virtual East Africa Com conference.

"Twitter is pleased to join this year's East Africa Com to connect with the East African digital ecosystem and engage with this vibrant community. At the conference, we will provide workshops on Twitter best practices and how African leaders, journalists and content creators can use the power of Twitter to communicate, educate, advocate and build their networks," said Emmanuel Lubanzadio, head of public policy for sub-Saharan Africa at Twitter.

Journalists and Online Content Creators are at the forefront of Twitter's work. On Tuesday May 11 at 16:00 EAC, Lubanzadio and Anis Menal, partner manager of global content partnerships at Twitter, will discuss how African journalists, thought leaders and online content creators can use the power of Twitter to educate, advocate and build a network.

There will also be a free virtual fireside chat with Bukky Ojeifo from Twitter's culture and community team, on Wednesday May 12 at 16:00 EAC, looking at how they use Twitter to cultivate community and amplify important cultural moments and happenings.

The virtual East Africa Com is the only event connecting the entire value chain across East African tech, media and telecommunications. Following a record-breaking number of registrations for 2021, it is expected to attract its highest global audience to date.

The virtual event platform is now live and free passes are available here.

At East Africa Com Virtual 2021, delegates will have the opportunity to be part of special Twitter Workshops looking at how to effectively leverage the power of the platform. You can find out more information on the topics, and how to get involved here.
