Cell C CFO Lerato Pule resigns
Lerato Pule, CFO of South African mobile operator Cell C, has resigned less than a year after taking over from Zaf Mahomed.
Pule joined the telco as executive director of financial planning, analysis and reporting in February 2022, and then took over as CFO in September 2022.
In a statement, Cell C said Pule will continue to deliver on critical finance matters over the next few months; however, it is not clear when her last day will be.
Cell C has not announced Pule's replacement, saying that the company will begin the process of identifying a successor.
The company added that Pule had demonstrated extraordinary leadership by facilitating the completion of the recapitalization and initiating the completion of three years' worth of historic audits (2018-2020) and the signing-off of the financials.
"The board extends its deepest gratitude to Lerato for her extraordinary contributions to Cell C during her tenure there," Cell C continued.
Leadership changes
Prior to joining Cell C, Pule was the CFO of Telkom South Africa's SME segment.
Pule is a qualified chartered accountant with over 16 years' experience in financial and business management at an operational and strategic level in various organizations including BCX and African Bank.
Cell C's leadership structure has changed in recent times. In July this year, it appointed former Vodacom executive Jorge Mendes as its new CEO. Mendes took over as a permanent replacement for Douglas Craigie Stevenson, who resigned in March 2023.
