PRESS RELEASE -- Ocean Specialists, Inc (OSI), a leading system development and advisory firm for telecommunications network solutions, today announced that the installation of the South Atlantic Cable System (SACS) is complete. SACS is the first direct link between Africa and South America. The Provisional Acceptance certificate was signed today at a ceremony in Luanda by Angola Cables CEO, António Nunes and NEC Corporation Project Manager, Hiroshi Kawakami.

The commercialization of the cable is ‘more than just a game-changer’ when it comes to data connectivity and services between the two continents, said Nunes. It is estimated that direct communications between Africa and the Americas will generate multiple advantages worldwide for Internet Service Providers, Cloud Service Providers and Over the Top Content Providers making use of these connections. The new routing will dynamically change the internet traffic patterns within the Southern Hemisphere and combined with Angola Cables existing cable systems Monet & West Africa Cable System (WACS), will dramatically alter global digital traffic routing options.

Entering the implementation phase in mid 2014, OSI project managed the network construction and installation aspects for the project through to completion.
