Pan-African operator Orange's Burkinabé unit has chosen Vox Solutions as the international application-to-person (A2P) short message service (SMS) and voice gateway for traffic into its network.

In a statement, Vox Solutions said the partnership will guarantee a secure and dependable transmission of A2P messages to Orange Burkina Faso's clients and international enterprises.

"The common objective is to safeguard mobile interactions from the rapidly escalating risks of message fraud and artificial traffic inflation (AIT)," the statement continued.

It said that artificially inflating traffic volumes increases enterprises' costs and jeopardizes revenues for mobile network operators.

"Similarly, messaging fraud, a matter of equal gravity, involves the unauthorized or deceptive dissemination of messages, posing a threat to user privacy and security," the statement continued.

Vox Solutions Founder and CEO Ehsan Ahmadi said the company's fundamental mission is to support mobile operators such as Orange Burkina Faso in sustaining consistent revenue growth and fostering innovation.

The VOX-360 platform

Orange Burkina Faso will use Vox Solutions' VOX-360 platform, which integrates anti-fraud functionalities, flash call authentication, A2P SMS monetization and mobile identity capabilities.

According to Vox Solutions, the platform empowers mobile operators to detect and prevent spam and fraudulent traffic, proactively protecting end users and elevating the overall customer experience.

"Addressing messaging fraud and AIT are central to the challenges we are eager to confront. This collaboration represents a significant step toward improved communication experiences and lasting success," Ahmadi continued.

Burkina Faso's mobile ecosystem

It will be interesting to see how the Vox Solutions deal will impact Orange Burkina Faso's mobile subscribers. Market intelligent statistics from Omdia, a sister company of Connecting Africa, show that Orange Burkina Faso was the biggest mobile operator in the country with almost 12.2 million mobile users at the end of the first quarter of 2024.
