Hybrid multi-cloud adoption model can assist with stability issues - Huawei
Huawei Cloud Sub-Saharan African Region CTO Harrison Li has urged African financial institutions to adopt hybrid multi-cloud services.
The Veeam Ransomware Trends Report 2022 has found that 86% of South African companies including banks suffered ransomware attacks. Furthermore, the country is the eighth most attacked country in the world.
According to Huawei Cloud Sub-Saharan African Region CTO Harrison Li organizations need to move to the hybrid multi-cloud adoption model to ensure that their services remain secure.
The multi-cloud adoption model refers to more than one public cloud service combined with private cloud resources.
Li shared these sentiments during the Huawei Intelligent Finance Summit 2023 hosted in Cape Town, South Africa last week Thursday.
He added that many local African financial institutions are using a public cloud adoption module, however, the Chinese multinational company has established that the hybrid multi-cloud adoption model can help with stability issues.
"Huawei Cloud not only offers public cloud, hybrid cloud as well as edge cloud, to help African financial institutions set up easy to adopt cloud infrastructure," he said.

Bank 4.0 author Brett King during a roundtable at the Summit, added that the change in consumer behavior fueled by post-COVID recovery has accelerated the need for Africa to adopt a mobile-driven banking approach.
Moreover, with the support of its partners, Huawei added that it is helping customers migrate to the cloud to mitigate the new data loss and continuity risks they are facing.
Furthermore, Huawei's digital energy solutions, can help to provide an uninterrupted and green power supply for the banking sector effectively addressing power deficit issues while supporting 'non-stop' banking.
The company unveiled its Non-Stop Banking initiative which calls for collaboration between the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and banking industries on the continent at the summit.
Huawei Global Digital Finance CEO Jason Cao said technological innovations like hybrid multi-cloud services are important as financial services are becoming mobile and intelligent at a very fast pace.

Furthermore, Huawei Cloud's Spark program, has pledged to assist 1,000 small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) over the next three years.
Having already trained more than 80,000 digital talents in Africa, it has launched the 'LEAP' digital talent training program in Sub-Saharan Africa, aiming to train another 100,000 people in the next three years.
